An Unusual 38-Bore German All-Metal Wheel-Lock Belt Pistol
Late 16th Century, probably Nuremberg
With two-stage barrel with pronounced applied gilt-bronze ring at the muzzle and struck at the breech with a small mark, a profile head (similar to Neue Støckel 5584), plain lock with flat wheel-cover, the cock engraved with a marine monster, the tail of the lock with applied gilt-bronze panel pierced and engraved with scrollwork, iron stock with applied gilt-bronze panels en suite, hollow gilt-bronze fish-tail pommel pierced and engraved with strapwork and foliage and with hinged cover at the back, iron belt hook, and incomplete wooden ramrod (trigger-guard and belt hook perhaps replaced, minor defects)
