Unlike the The Cut and Leg Volley, The Draw is not a stroke that would be familiar today, and must have required special skill. The batsman pushes his left foot forward while keeping his bat not only several feet behind but raised well above the wicket, as if in readiness for a slow ball that can be patted away on the on-side.
