An early 19th. Century gold and shell cameo necklace, the nine graduated cameos depicting various classical scenes comprising: Hermes bringing the infant Dionysos to the nymphs of Nysa, Hygieia giving a drink to the snake with Asklepios seated by her, Priam before Achilles begging for the body of Hector, possibly Paris and Helen with the hero Hector, Sale of Erotes, Venus, Cupid and Achilles in Vulcan's forge, A scene from the Trojan Wars, Venus, Cupid and possibly Adonis, and Hebe pouring Nectar for Zeus, the matching clasp depicting a Gorgon's head in high relief, the cannetille bead and wire mounts with wave engraved borders and shell terminals with shell and bead connecting links, in a fitted case.
