The musical box is fitted inside the body which must be pressed and released to play the melody. 337 pieces were produced between 1950 and 1952.

A rare Steiff musical Teddy Baby
with brown mohair head and arms, cream mohair cut muzzle, brown and black glass eyes, black stitched nose, cream felt open mouth, swivel head, solid cylindrical body containing operative concertina musical movement, dressed in original tartan skirt, white cotton shirt and green felt belt and braces, with US Zone label stitched to right arm and button in ear with yellow label intact --9in. (23cm.) tall, circa 1950 (a few small tears to skirt, otherwise in excellent condition)
