On this mirror, where matter becomes light, Line Vautrin expresses the singular dreamlike quality of her art. Crafted from Talosel, a cellulose acetate-based resin that the artist heats, carves and patinates, it is adorned with fragments of coloured glass whose reflections shift with the light.
Its distinctive feature lies in the incorporation of patinated metal leaf, an uncommon material introduced relatively late in Line Vautrin’s oeuvre, whose subtle nuances enhance the depth and texture of the composition.
Balancing transparency, opacity and shimmer, these materials create a play of contrasts that evokes a precious, almost mineral substance. This rare piece, poised between sculpture and decorative art, extends Line Vautrin’s artistic universe, where artisanal experimentation gives rise to a truly poetic visual language.
