Peter Roselli was born circa 1876 in Italy. According to a 1920 United States Census, Roselli was naturalized in 1905 and lived in New York in 1920 at East 109th Street with his wife and children. His occupation is listed as "wood carver". Roselli and his Italian heritage, reflects the broader story of Italian immigration to the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when millions of Italians left their homeland seeking economic opportunity and a new life. As families from around the world settled in American cities, they contributed their language, traditions, and skills to the cultural fabric of the nation and the American “melting pot".
