The Royal Oak Offshore 'Rubens Barrichello II' reference 26078IO
Launched in 2006 as a tribute to Brazilian Formula 1 racecar champion Rubens Barrichello (b. May 23, 1972), Audemars Piguet unveiled their second collaboration timepiece designated as reference 26078IO and limited to only 1,000 examples. Incorporating special details in connection to Formula One, this can be seen in the bezel which utilizes ceramic such as like the brakes on a Formula 1 racecar. The caseback represents a wheel with a central part engraved with the signature of Rubens Barrichello. Being of Brazilian origin, the hands of the subsidiary dials for the chronograph commemorate the Brazilian flag through their colors. F1 elements are also integrated in the original strap liner, which is included in the lot. Made from Alcantara fabric, a favored material in racecar seats due to its “non-slip” properties, Audemars Piguet’s attention to detail is evident in all parts of this celebrational timepiece.
