This elegant black-glazed neck-amphora is decorated with rays above the foot and simple tongues on the shoulder. On each side of the neck there is a lotus-palmette chain. On the underside of the foot there is a graffito (an alpha). For a related example but with a panther on the neck, see the amphora now in the Getty Villa (inv. no. 86.AE.95, no. 33 in M. True and J. Fred, Greek Vases: Molly and Walter Bareiss Collection).
