Tables of this type have been amongst the most admired since the late Ming dynasty as evident in their consistent popularity through subsequent periods. A similar example, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, illustrated in Craig Clunas, Chinese Furniture, London, 1988, no. 33; Another example from the Qing Court Collection, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Furniture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties (I), Hong Kong, 2002, p.114, no. 97.
