The painter Jeremy Le Grice was a friend of Lanyon’s and had been a student at St Peter’s Loft, the art school in St Ives that Lanyon ran with William Redgrave from 1954 to 1960. Some years later, during a visit to his studio at Little Parc Owles, Lanyon invited Le Grice to choose a painting as a gift. Le Grice chose Little Bracken, and Lanyon went to some trouble to frame the painting himself for his friend.
