While peonies were a popular motif found on Yaozhou wares, this particular pattern, with three blooms borne on central slender stems, appears to be quite rare. A smaller Yaozhou dish carved with a closely related pattern in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge is illustrated in The Arts of the Sung Dynasty, London, 1960, pl. 51, no. 134, p. 57.
