Each side of the box painted with a panel with merchants and figures on the banks of estuaries with fortifications, quaysides and ships, within flattened quatrefoil cartouches with lustrous panels, gilt and coloured scrolls, the ends with indianische Blumen, the domed cover with two similar scenes below a crouching gilt hare finial and within a gilt Laub-und Bandelwerk border
