A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI ORMOLU CHENETS, CIRCA 1780

Non référencée, cette signature estampée dans le bronze pourrait être celle de Pierre-François Feuchère (1737-1823).
Les lions au repos ornant l’amortissement des présents chenets permet de les rapprocher d’une paire de chenets faisant partie des collections du musée du Louvre (Inv. OA 5294) et actuellement déposés au château de Versailles (cf. Bibliographie comparative). Ces chenets sont très probablement ceux livrés par un certain Claude Delaroue, marchand miroitier, le 21 septembre 1770 pour la chambre à coucher du Dauphin à Fontainebleau.
