A Victorian four-piece tea and coffee service
of baluster form and on scrolling foliate feet, each chased and embossed with flowers, foliage, scalework and pillar and C-scroll cartouches engraved with crests, the reverses chased with medieval style figures, with elaborate floral and foliate-capped scroll handles engraved with zig-zags, the coffee pot and teapot with panelled rising curved spouts engraved with trelliswork and with domed hinged covers with finials modelled as hooded falcons with outstretched wings, each perched on a gauntlet as if about to take flight, the milk jug and sugar basin gilt-lined, J.C. Edington, London 1849 and 1850 - height of coffee pot 10¼in. (26cm.), 92.75oz.
