自1960年代末期型号1463停产以来，5070便成为百达翡丽出产的第一款纯计时腕表。在1998年甫推出时仅有黄金版本，其后在2001年及2003年先后推出白金及红金版，由2008年起仅制作铂金版。
每种金属版本各生产约1000枚，而铂金版本则只有500枚。
