After the model by Naum Kongiser, realistically modelled and painted as an old man sitting on a tree trunk listening to the radio on headphones with a boy in a pioneer neckerchief standing by and controlling the radio, marked under base with impressed hammer, sickle and cog, also incised on base ' N. The sculptor, Naum Kongiser (1904-1984), was educated in Leningrad and most frequently worked in plaster and bronze. This work, ‘Radio for the Village’ is a rare example of porcelain art by the artist from the State Porcelain Factory from the 1920s. In 1927, the work was displayed at the exhibition Art of the Peoples of the USSR in Moscow in honour of the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution.
