TIBET, 18TH CENTURY

拍品专文

The central scene of this finely executed painting is located in a stylized landscape. The red Sarvabuddhadakini dominates the painting. Her name sarvabuddha means ‘all buddhas’ and she is an important deity in tantric Buddhism. Her left hand tilts up a skull cup filled with blood which she is about to drink. The upper register sees the blue Buddha Akshobhya and the white Vajrasattva while the lower part has the white Sadaksharilokeshavra in the centre flanked by Manushri and the blue Vajrapani brandishing the vajra.
