The censer is of compressed form and is cast to the rim with two downward-facing dragons whose bodies curve to form the handles. The base is cast with an apocryphal Xuande mark.

The mark to the base reads Da Ming Xuande wunian jiandu gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao which can be translated as 'made by the official of the overseers office, Wu Bangzuo, during the fifth year of Xuande of the Great Ming'.
