Slightly corroded and discoloured embossed Château capsule. Bin-soiled and slightly damaged label. Level mid/upper-shoulder
Tasting note: Unsurprisingly magnificent. Not tasted until it had nearly and effortlessly reached its quarter century. It was fabulous: deep, rich, rounded, more than faultless, and impregnable. I had to wait 15 years to have the chance to taste it again, blind. I thought it must have been a ’45, ’47 or ’49, plumping for the latter. I was wrong, but not all that far out. Opaque, rich, ripe, sweet, full, chunky. Last tasted June 2004. At best ***** M.B.
