THREE ENAMELED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLES
JINGDEZHEN KILNS, 1820-1933
The first bottle, with a mark on the base dated to the guiyou year (1933), is decorated on either main side with a profile head of a European, with a shop mark, Beiping Deshoutang yaodian ('The Pharmacy of Virtue and Longevity of Beiping') on one narrow side, and the type of medicine which was originally packed in the bottle on the other. The second bottle, Tongzhi four-character mark in iron red and of the period (1862-1874), is decorated overall with a pattern imitating caning beneath four bats on the shoulders. The third bottle, 1820-1860, is painted on either side with Zhong Kui, the Demon Queller.
2 ½, 3 1/8 and 2 ¼ in. (6.5, 8.1 and 5.9 cm.) high, glass stoppers
