The centre of the interior is moulded in relief with a scaly, four-clawed dragon, below scrolls carved in the well, and the exterior is carved with stylized chrysanthemum petals. The dish is entirely covered in a celadon glaze stopping short of the unglazed foot ring which has burnt orange in the firing.
