A CORAL MANDARIN'S COURT NECKLACE, CHAOZHU
19TH CENTURY
The necklace is composed of 108 coral beads divided by four larger jadeite beads, jiezhu, 'connecting beads'. The central jiezhu has a woven yellow ribbon leading to the beiyun, 'back cloud' which is weighed down by a jadeite bead. There are three secondary pendants formed of 10 beads.
