Emile Decoeur (1876-1953) studied under Edmond Lachenal and started his career as ceramicist in 1890. He starts exhibiting under his own name in 1902. The present dish is inspired by Iznik examples and is very much in Lachenal's style. This may suggest an early date of execution in Decoeur's career as he later moves towards a very different style
