On short straight foot, of shallow form with gently sloping rim, the blue, yellow, green and bole-red painted decoration consisting of foliated motifs arranged around a central stylised floral bloom, the rim with further similar foliate patterns interspersed with bole-red palmettes

This type of brightly coloured decoration combined with extremely well drawn motifs is associated with the first half of the 18th century and the peak of the ceramic production at Kutahya. This dish is a fine example of the technical achievement reached by these potters. A bowl with closely related decoration is in the Suna and Inan Kirac Collection in Istanbul and attributed to the first half of the 18th century (see Sebnem Akalin and Hulya Yilmaz Bilgi, Delights of Kutahya, Istanbul, 1997, cat. 10/230, p.33).
