The inscription around the rim appears to relate to the gift of the bowl to the Armenian cathedral of St. James of Jerusalem. The inscription is dated 1118 in the Armenian calendar, equivalent to 1669 AD.

On short conical foot, the engraved decoration consisting of a lobed medallion with interlocked palmettes surrounded by four fish, flanked with floral sprays rising from globular vases and inhabited with birds, with hounds, wolf and deer
