Chehel Sutun is a large pavilion built by Shah ‘Abbas II (r. 1642-1666) in Isfahan as a leisure place. It was decorated with large frescos depicting marking historical events of Safavid dynasty such as Shah Isma’il defeating the Uzbeks, the Battle of Chaldiran against the Ottomans or Shah Tahmasp receiving the Mughal prince Humayun.
