IMPERIAL, JINGDEZHEN KILNS, DAOGUANG FOUR-CHARACTER MARK IN IRON-RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
One side is decorated with a large katydid, the other side with three frogs amidst seeding grasses and scattered flower petals.

The combination of these two symbols of fertility, a katydid and frogs, on the same bottle is unusual. A bottle combining both frogs and katydids was sold at Christie's New York, Important Chinese Snuff Bottles from the J&J Collection, Part II, 30 March 2005, sale 1464, lot 37.
