TWO PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLES
JINGDEZHEN KILNS, 1830-1896
The first bottle, Qianjiang School, dated 1896, is decorated in polychrome enamels on one side with a woman at a window, the reverse with an inscription referring to the scene depicted and dated to the winter of 1896 and signed by Hu Pinsan. The second, 1830-1890, is decorated in iron-red enamels with five Buddhist lions, and the base has a four-character inscription reading wu shi tong ju, ('five generations under the same roof').
2 3/8 and 3 1/8 in. (6 and 8 cm.) high, glass and quartz stoppers
