Tasting note: Medium tawny at the centre with a broad amber rim. A very fine, scented Vintage Port, elegant and beautifully balanced. The nose is multi-dimensional, displaying evocative aromas of beeswax polish, notes of sawn oak and an ethereal fragrance of violets, all arranged in a delicate and subtle equilibrium. On the palate, the wine’s soft silky texture is wrapped around a core of crisp acidity, which gives freshness to the long mellow finish. Although the wine displays the hallmark opulence and seductiveness of a mature Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port, it combines this with elegance and restraint. A very attractive and eminently drinkable Vintage Port to be enjoyed now or over the next five years or so.
