Sides relief-chased with large flowers and scrolling acanthus leaves, the front with two putti supporting garlands of flowers, the cover centred by a Roman emperor to profile within floral surround, the bifurcated thumbpiece terminating in twin animal heads, the handle prick-dot engraved with initials W.B and terminating in a narrow escutcheon engraved with contemporary arms flanked by plumed mantling
