A YELLOW AND RUSSET JADE CARVING OF A RECUMBENT ELEPHANT
QING DYNASTY, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
The elephant is carved with its legs tucked beneath its body and its head and trunk turned sharply around towards its tail, the knobled back bone of the beast is finely rendered. The attractive stone ranges from a pale yellow tone to mottled russet, to dark brownish-black.
