A collection of 8 autograph letters, signed, 3 from Albany House, By Fleet, Weybridge Station and 5 from Hengwrt, Dolgelley, N. Wales, [ca. 1901], to Dr. Arthur Walker, the majority discussing vivisection, one stating: "I have an excellect piece of news for you -- Bismarck is going himself to bring in a bill for the very stringent restrictions of Vivisection ... Bismarck had said it very emphatically ... a few days previously ... I suppose there will be no doubt that such a blow to the practice in its Head Quarters will be of immense importance?" (8)

PROVENANCE:
Dr. Arthur Walker married Isabel Johnston the grand-daughter of the social reformer Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton (1786-1845). By direct descent.
