A one-page typed letter of 5 lines, signed, from Chartwell, Westerham, Kent, 14th August 1951, to Mr. Gray, reading: "I must thank you for the trouble you took in coming down to Chartwell and making the film of the robin. It is a great success and gives much amusement to the family." With a head-and-shoulders portrait photograph of Churchill mounted on card, the mount signed: Winston S. Churchill," 6 x 4in., in original envelope. (2)

Mr. Gray, a news cameraman for Movie Tone, often accompanied Churchill in the course of his duties, and on this occasion Churchill had asked him, as a personal favour, to film a robin in the garden at Chartwell which he had become attached to.
