Arabic manuscript on paper, 427ff. plus five fly-leaves, each folio with 12ll. of black thuluth script on gold-speckled paper, with gold rosette verse markers, with Persian interlinear translation in red nasta'liq script between double gold rules, sura headings in white thuluth script within gold and polychrome illuminated cartouches, text within gold and polychrome rules, opening bifolio with fine 'carpet' illumination in gold and polychrome with double-shamsa, preceded by prayers, the text arranged as shamsas, first bifolio of the Qur'anic text profusely illuminated in gold and polychrome, the final bifolio with associated 16th century Safavid 'carpet' illumination, original marginal comments, marginal medallions in gold and polychrome, later added seal impression Muhammad Qutb Shah, in 18th or 19th century gilt and stamped morocco binding, with modern box

The black seal impression at the beginning of this Qur’an is that of the Deccani ruler Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah (r. 1580-1612 AD). It is dated AH 1010/1601 AD.
