SHUNZHI PERIOD (1644-1661)
The small bowl is decorated in deep tones of cobalt blue on either side of the exterior with a dancing lady amidst scattered blossoms. The interior is decorated with a central medallion containing a small boy amidst similar blossoms and beneath a lappet border. The base bears a six-character mark qi shi bao ding zhi zhen ('precious as a treasured ding of rare stone´) within a double circle.

The dancing ladies on this bowl make graceful use of their long, elegant sleeves. As they appear to be dancing on clouds, it is possible that they are intended to represent apsaras.
