Tian Manshi was born in Yancheng, Henan. She studied at the Akademie der Bildenden K?nste Munchen in Germany and received her honorary doctorate from Wonkwang University in Korea. As a student of Huang Junbi, she took part in many exhibitions and cultural exchanges abroad.
