An officer called Nicolas Oudinot, Count Oudinot and Duke of Reggio (1767-1848) uniform, gold-embroidered dark blue coat with gold epaulettes bearing five silver stars, wearing the red moiré sash, badge and breast-star of the Imperial French Order of the Legion of Honour
signed and dated 'Fontallard. 1811.' (lower right)

Nicolas Oudinot, Count Oudinot and Duke of Reggio was a key protagonist of the French Revolutionary Wars and on Napoleon's abdication he rallied to the new government and was made a Peer of France by the Bourbon Restoration King Louis XVIII and remained loyal to the king during Napoleon's return in 1815.
