A similar Ottoman dagger is attributed by Robert Hales to the 18th century (Robert Hales, Islamic and Oriental Arms and Armour: A Lifetime’s Passion, 2013, no. 187, p. 84). The sheath of our present dagger is unusual in that it was clearly made for a Christian patron.
