Arabic manuscript on lacquered card, 12ff. most with 2ll. of thuluth framing 2ll. of small neat naskh, text panels outlined in gold, black and red and laid down on gold sprinkled borders, opening folio with the bismallah surmounting 3ll. of naskh flanked by two further calligraphic panels, each element surrounded by floral illumination, concertina bound in red lacquer with gold floral illumination

The contents include:
1. An ijaza consisting of a prayer for the Prophet, written by al-Sayyid Muhammad al-Fikri (Seyyid Mehmed Fikri) and authorised by al-Sayyid 'Ali al-Fawzi (Seyyid Ali Fevzi) in AH 1287/1870-71 AD. The latter gives his lineage of teachers as al-Sayyid Muhammad al-Kamili (Seyyid Mehmed Kamili), al-Sayyid 'Ali al-Fawzi, and 'Abd al-Qadir al-Shukri (Abdülakdir Sükrü).
2. A page of mufradat, calligraphic exercises on the letters of the alphabet.
3. Four pages of Arabic verses in praise of Muhammad, 'Ali and the Hashimite family, signed by Mehmed Kebecizade, dated AH 1217/1802-03 AD. Mehmet Vasfi, known as Kebecizade (d.1831), was one of the masters of his age and the tutor of Mahmud II.
4. A Prophetic hadith and a wise saying, Sultan Mehmed AH 1170/1756-57 AD (the signature is added)
5. A Prophetic hadith signed by Vahdeti (d.1896), dated AH 1270/1853-54 AD. Hafiz Vahdeti was born in Burdur in 1832 and in 1848 came to Istanbul. He entered imperial service and eventually reached the post of Kaymakam (Sevket Rado, Türk Hattalari, Istanbul, 1980, p.229).
