A FAHUA VASE
MING DYNASTY, 15TH-16TH CENTURY
The vase is robustly potted and relief decorated with lotus plants and grasses rising from cresting waves below a garland of beaded chains suspending precious objects on the rounded shoulder, all below a ruyi-head border on the neck. The decoration is outlined in lines of slip and glazed in turquoise, yellow, and white against a dark blue ground.
