A SANCAI-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURE OF A HORSE
TANG DYNASTY (AD 618-907)
The horse is shown standing foursquare on a rectangular base with its head gently turned to the right and ears pricked forward. The saddle and halter are glazed in green and the body is covered with a rich amber glaze which runs down the legs, darkening to a deep brown. The mane and forelock are highlighted in a straw glaze.
