The firm of Baguès Frères, Paris, working from the 1930s, produced a wide variety of lighting fixtures and iron work in both modern and old style pieces. They elaborated and mixed the two, using fountains, fruit, flowers, animals and even a windmill for their subjects. Their preferred media, were clear or opalescent glass beads and rock crystal set in silvered or gilt mounts. A closely related set of four three branch wall-lights sold Christie's, New York 3-5 June 2004, lot 898 ($26,290 with premium). Another closely related pair of two-branch wall lights sold Christie's, London 21 April 2005, lot 3 (£16,800 with premium).
