AN INSCRIBED DUAN RECTANGULAR INKSTONE

The purplish rectangular inkstone is inscribed on the two long narrow sides with an inscription signed Lu Ru and dedicated to Wu Congshan, where Lu praises the quality of the stone. Accompanied by a Qing dynasty fitted zitan box and cover; the later is inlaid on top with amber, mother-of-pearl, malachite and coral depicting a reclining scholar holding a brush beside an open handscroll, with an attendant preparing tea at the bottom left corner underneath a carved insription reading fang Qian Shunju bi, 'After the style of Qian Shunju'.
