ATTRIBUTED TO ROBERT THORBURN, A.R.A. (BRITISH, 1818-1885)
A gentleman, possibly Lord Adolphus Vane-Tempest (1825-1864); together with lady Lyndhurst (1795-1834), (English School, circa 1820) and a gentleman, probably Frederick, Viscount Castlereagh, later 4th Marquess of Londonderry (1805-1872), in black coat, and a lady of the Londonderry family in lace bonnet
all on ivory
the first: oval, 2.1/4 in. (56 mm.) high, the frame, surmounted by an earl’s coronet, with the words, ‘TO MY BELOVED MOTHER’; Frederick (?) oval, 3.1/2 in. (89 mm) high; rectangular 3.1/4 x 2.5/8 in. (83 x 66 mm.), the reverse engraved, ‘Lady Lyndhurst’, unillustrated; oval, lady in lace bonnet 3.1/4 in. (81 mm) high
出版

The gentleman in the blue cravat and the lady in the lace cap: Wynyard Park inventory, 1965, vol. ii, p. 15. The gentleman sitter is described as 'Lord Ernest Vane-Tempest-Stewart (?)'. However, the sitter's date of birth makes it more likely that he is Lord Adolphus Vane-Tempest.
