The tondo with two combating kneeling hoplites, the left wearing a crested helmet, short belted tunic and greaves, the long-haired warrior to the right wearing helmet with high crest, loose-fitting tunic and greaves, their shields and limbs overlapping, encircled by a band of alternating red and black tongues, the exterior with two registers, the upper with a band of ivy leaf interspersed with dotted rosettes, the lower with a band of lotus bud chain, details in added red
