Cheese, a 'wan-li' porcelain bowl with butter, a 'façon-de-venise' glass of red wine, a tall glass of beer, a bucket with a duck and a redshank, a wicker basket with various fruits, together with bread, cherries and other fruits on a partially draped table

Only a few works are known of the so-called Master of the Kitten, all very similar compositions, showing a cat with a still life. The present painting originally also included a cat, of which the outlines can still be observed today. However, the artist must have decided to leave it out of the composition and painted it over shortly after.
