The shaped top with canted corners above four doors each with an oval medallion and divided by flat pilasters, the central doors enclosing a sycamore-edged shelf, the outer doors each enclosing two further shelves, on square tapering legs with spade feet

The bow-fronted commode is designed in the antique fashion popularised by Thomas Sheraton's Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1793, and could be fitted with drawers, such as the closely related satinwood commode in the collection of Mrs. Robert Tritton, sold Christie's, Godmersham Park, 6 - 9 June 1983, lot 57.
