The painting dated 1948, the calligraphy dated 1951
The folding fan is painted to one side with a seated scholar in his garden by Wu Xizeng, and lines of calligraphy by Xu Zhiqian to the reverse.
The bamboo handle is delicately carved to one side with a lady resting in a pavilion under the branches of a willow tree, and lines of a poem from Shu su tie.
