The chairs' elegant vase-capped legs, pearled paterae and slender arms relate to the late classical designs of James Wyatt, such as his chairs supplied to Appuldurcombe and his designs supplied to Eleanor Coade (see J. M. Robinson, James Wyatt: Architect to George III, New Haven and London, 2012, figs. 120, 152 and 166). A comparable set of chairs attributed to Wyatt and with radiating panels were sold, the the late Mrs. Michael Behrens; Christie's, London, 4 July 2002, lot 57.
