Adam Weisweiler, maître in 1778.

Although this occasional table is perhaps more understated than some of Weisweiler's more well-known models, this occasional table, with its finely inlaid fluted legs, checker-inlaid banding and mille raie panels, present a charming example of Weisweiler's highly skilled work. The use of the heart-patterned gallery indicates that this table was probably made for a lady's dressing room, where she could draft and hide away her personal correspondence in the tidy writing drawer.
